A Love Letter to Don't Starve

This is definitely bouncing off of a post made by @eiramew about disability visibility in Destiny because I think having more disabled people that are an active and seen part of the story is essential.

Even with the idea that the light heals and remakes, I want to bring this comment Seth J. Dickinson made when someone asked if their disability could exist in Destiny’s power systems.

“The Traveler might need you the way you are” is actually so beautiful to me and I think protecting people others would consider “unworthy of the right to live” is what the Traveler champions against the philosophy of the darkness.

I could talk about this forever and I think I might soon.

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.

Kamala 2024!

If you weren't going to vote Democratic in this election before Biden dropped out you're a dorkass loser who does not care about any of the issues you're yammering about here and also a fundamentally bad person, and I hope you get run over by a bus.

see the thing is I'm always in this weird state where I don't think my original stories are anything particularly exceptional or original or necessary but also I know damn well that there are certain scenes or character arcs that people are going to want to chew on if I could ever buckle down and work on the damn thing

disco elysium update: i've started day 2, but i'm not particularly enjoying myself at the moment... i don't really know what to do or where to go, i feel like i have painted myself in a corner with failed checks and the only available options are ones i absolutely do not want to do. i find the mechanics confusing and overwhelming and i am feeling very discouraged that maybe if i had understood them better earlier, i would be getting somewhere. i want so badly to enjoy the story but it feels like it's going to take a lot of effort to like, get any of it :(((

HOWEVER i suspect that if i try again on a day i feel less headachey than today, and if i manage to find some kind of breakthrough that doesn't involve becoming a fascist, i will hopefully get back on track and feel a lot better about the game again. hopefully!!!!

god bless i got into writing fan fiction for the first time this year and i suck so bad at it

it's bg3 but none of the core 6 are main or even recurring characters (pretty sure at least one of them is dead now), the main characters are mostly original characters so im not using the coolest feature of fan fiction (ie the audience already knows the context so you can skip setting the scene and just get to the good shit), i'm 11 chapters in and still not at act 2, and its not even remotely sexy (extremely disappointed in myself for that one)

anyway im having an absolute blast

the worst part is i can't even say he's wrong. they certainly did figure out how to contribute the city by joining the wrgp. but like. this is one of those things where it literally does not make sense. this is insane levels of logic. "we're not sure how to contribute to the city. we think entering a magic the gathering tournament will help." like. imagine saying that fr when your parents ask what you're going to do after you graduate college. "idk. thought i'd play card games and figure it out, man"
